Part-Time Executive Director
Civility First… So We Can Work Together
“Civility First… So We Can Work Together” is a grassroots nonprofit organization committed to civil public discourse in these times of political divisiveness. We are seeking a part-time (approximately one day per week) independent contractor to serve as an Executive Director (ED). This person would be responsible to the board of directors, and would communicate and implement the vision of the organization.
The ED would lead the organization to financial stability by exploring funding sources, and by overseeing fundraising activities such as grant-writing and other income-generating activities. They would be expected to oversee recurring and ongoing activities of the organization such as presentations, workshops and “Civility Month” annual events. The ED would also oversee communications, including social media presence, website and other publicity.
The ED would coordinate product development such as slide shows, civility curricula and other resources for the public. They would assist with volunteer recruitment and coordination, and would represent the organization with community partners. The ED would attend monthly board meetings, and would promote the organization locally and beyond.
We understand that this list of duties is comprehensive, and the opportunity exists for the ED to expand to several days per week or full time as funds become available.

- Commitment to the principles of civil discourse
- Experience with nonprofit leadership
- Excellent organizational skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with and coordination of fundraising and grant writing
- Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability and desire to work independently and from home
Salary
- $15,000 – an Executive Director = $35/hour x 9 hours weekly x 50 weeks
- IRS – .58 cents a mile for use of car.
