Calling All Artists! We Need Your Advice!
We have enjoyed the many entries into the annual art contest we have held every year since 2017. Over the years we have been asked whether we are thinking of expanding the contest to include the written and spoken word, plays, dance, and other media. This year (2023) we are reevaluating how this important event will look going forward, so, regrettably, we are not holding the contest this year.
We’ve received some truly amazing work over the years, and, with the help of the Pacific Northwest Art School in Coupeville, have judged and given out cash awards to scores of artists of all ages. See this page and below for a few examples of the thoughtful, creative methods local artists have come up with to represent the concept of “civility.”
As we decide how to continue incorporating the arts into our work, we need your input. We are thinking we want to include all kinds of art: Spoken/written word, photography, music, painting, dance, etc. And, should it even be a contest?
If you’d like to share your thoughts on this topic, please send us an email at [email protected] . We welcome all input, but would especially like to know whether you’ve ever participated in the art contest, whether you agree with the idea of including a variety of media, and any other ideas you have for using art to spread the civility message.
